Researchers at the University of California, San Diego’s NSF-funded Temporal Dynamics Learning Center are holding a town hall meeting, The Science of Educating, on March 3, 2008 at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences in San Diego, California.  This meeting is partly inspired by several recent meetings and editorials on the topic of the interface between neuroscience and education. These meetings have mostly focused on scientists presenting their views to educators. The goal of this town hall meeting will be to inform and foster a more balanced and open dialogue between leading educators, school administrators, state and federal officials responsible for education policy and research funding, and cognitive and neuroscientists, so that we can derive a better understanding of each other's perspectives, needs and responsibilities.  The meeting will be taped by the Science Network.  Organizers:  R. Bingham, The Science Network; T. Sejnowski; Salk Institute and UC San Diego; and Paula Tallal, Rutgers University.
