IMBESThe International Mind Brain Education Society (IMBES) Call for Nominations

The International Mind Brain Education Society is pleased to announce a call for nominations for three new awards in the field of Mind, Brain and Education. Specifically, the Society will recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations in the field of Mind, Brain and Education through three awards:

  1. The Mind Brain and Education Society Early Career Award
  2. The Mind Brain and Education Society Translation Award
  3. Award for 'Exemplifying the Mission of the International Mind, Brain and Education Society'.  

  
The selected nominee for each of the awards will receive a $2,000 stipend.  Each of these awards is described in detail below.

The submission deadline for these awards is February 21 2014. The recipients of these awards will be recognized at the 2014 IMBES Conference November 7-8, 2014 which will be held in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, Texas.

The nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of members of the IMBES board. 

DETAILED AWARD DESCRIPTION:


IMBES Early Career Award:
This award is designed to recognize early career researchers who have made significant research contributions to the field of Mind, Brain, and Education.  This award will be given to a faculty member who earned their Ph.D. or Ed.D. after 2004 (PhD or Ed.D dated 2005 onwards).

Materials to complete nomination (no self-nominations will be accepted):
 
•   A.     Letter of nomination by a senior scholar, such as the nominee's previous Ph.D. or postdoctoral advisor. The letter should provide details about the nominee's research and how it relates to the field of Mind, Brain, and Education. The letter should explain clearly why the nominee is qualified for this award.
•   B.     CV of nominee
•   C.     PDFs of 4 representative publications
•   D.    Suggested names of additional referees (at least 2).
 
IMBES Translation Award:
This award is designed to recognize senior scholars who have made significant progress towards strengthening the links between research and practice in Mind, Brain, and Education. Specifically, this award will be given to senior scholar (post tenure) who is advancing collaboration between research and practice in traditional and non–traditional educational contexts. 
 
Materials to complete nomination (no self-nominations will be accepted):

•   A. Letter of nomination from a senior scholar, detailing how the nominee has advanced collaboration in the field (public, interdisciplinary, institutional, non-traditional.) The letter should discuss how the candidate's work has had a transformational impact on scholarship and practice in Mind, Brain and Education.
•   B.  CV of nominee.
•   C.  Suggested names of additional referees (at least 2).
 
Exemplifying the IMBES Mission Award:
Recognizes Pre K-12 educators, institutions or programs, demonstrating success in establishing, building and supporting infrastructure of change, which enhance and clarify/demonstrate how collaboration can unfold in the field of Mind, Brain, and Education.
 
Materials to complete the nomination (no self nominations will be accepted):
 
•   A.  Letter of nomination by a university scholar should clearly explain how the individual or institution has advanced collaborations that are consistent with the mission of  the Mind, Brain, and Education Society (IMBES). Examples of specific achievements and outcomes should be provided (such as new professional development programs, research partnerships etc.).
•   B.  Letter will describe the innovative ways in which the individual or institution established new structures for collaboration.
•   C.  Letter will describe how the individual or institution supported and facilitated connections among evidence-based research and practice to solve problems in educational settings.
•   D.  If the nominee is an individual, please include CV or resume and suggested names of additional referees (at least 2).

•   E.   If an institution is nominated please include suggested names of additional referees (at least 2).
